The Storyteller
Two Decades in Italy. Countless Stories Uncovered.
"Italy has had a hold on me ever since."
The US military sent me to Italy in 1988, and Italy has had a hold on me ever since.
I began studying history in Naples, then returned to the United States to complete a Master's degree. By 1994 I was back in Italy with a burning curiosity and no intention of going anywhere. Over the next thirty years I personally guided more than three thousand groups across the country, became the first to take travelers underwater to the sunken Roman ruins of Portus Julius, near Naples, and consulted as a historian for productions that appeared on the History Channel, the BBC, and Discovery Channel.
Everything I've learned in those thirty years — the buried cities, the forgotten kingdoms, the stories that never make the guidebooks — is what I've built these journeys around.
Italy doesn't give up her secrets easily. But she does give them up.
